About Me

 

My name is Adam Svatek and I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I grew up in Wisconsin and joined the Navy directly after high school. I spent 12 years in the US Navy as a Submarine Machinist’s Mate (basically a mechanical technician). The last 4 years of my enlistment were in Groton, CT where I was a Project Manager for computer-based training courses. Following my enlistment in the Navy, I found myself as an Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) for these computer-based training courses. In 2014, I found a job at a plant that destroys chemical weapons at Pueblo Chemical Depot southeast of Colorado Springs. Destroying chemical weapons has an eventual end date, so chose to seek employment in the IT field as my next career. I enrolled for a BS in IT at the University of Arizona Global Campus in the spring of 2022.

My experience in Information Technology is not very extensive. As a Project Manager and Instructional Systems Designer, I was involved in the writing and reviewing of computer-based courses. I worked along with graphic artists and computer programmers. In my current position as a Control Room Operator, I work with Automation occasionally when it comes to troubleshooting certain systems or going to them for help. I learn a little here and there on the ladder logic. I have found the Automation Department to be quite interesting and would be interested in that kind of work. My aspirations with a degree in Information Technology are basically to find employment in IT in 3 years. I haven’t found exactly what I would like to do with this degree, but I would really like to have the opportunity to work from home.
